Kim Delaney was an American actress. The actress is best known for her role as detective Diane Russell, in the ABC show NYPD Blue. For this she was awarded an Emmy Award. The most notable role she has played is her part as a character in All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney has a father who was an executive at the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. She envisioned being a reporter for the court in childhood but started modelling while in high school eventually garnering commercials following her move from New York. When she was a teenager her first appearance as an actor was on the soap opera of 1980 All My Children. Since then Delaney has been in a variety of film and television dramas. She has not had a good or satisfying personal life. In the past, this accomplished actress battled alcoholism and had two marriages fall apart. In 2005, she lost custody of her sole son.
